The Milky Way

Nestled in the heart of the Green Mountains, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory sits on a rolling pasture overlooking the Worcester range. Their guided factory tour starts with a seven-minute 'moovie' about how childhood friends Ben Cohen and Jerry Greenfield turned a $5 correspondence course on ice cream into a very successful business. You'll then get a bird's eye view of Vermont's finest in action and an explanation of the ice cream manufacturing process. The best is saved for last as you go to the FlavoRoom for delicious samples of the day and swing by the scoop shop featuring approximately 30 euphoric flavors -- too bad only cows have four stomachs. Phone: (866) BJTOURS

A Dog's Life

Take a step back in time before cars and snow machines were a way of life and live the once-in-a-lifetime experience with Green Mountain Dog Sled Adventures. Hop in your own padded and enclosed sled and let an experienced musher and a team of friendly and enthusiastic Alaskan Huskies swiftly transport you through 10 miles of winding woodland trails to the kennel and scenic cabin. You'll learn how the dogs live, how they are cared for, their incredible abilities and genetics, how they are trained, how to harness them and ride the runners. Tours are private and by appointment only. Daily in winter. Prices start at $95 for children 3-15. Phone: (802) 793-6220
