Blue Sky FAQs
Got questions? We've got answers.
No, JetBlue and United are not merging and will continue to be two separate airlines. Our collaboration is intended to give both of our customers access to additional destinations, perks and points.
To book a United flight using TrueBlue points, simply search for your desired routing on jetblue.com and select “use TrueBlue points” as you normally would.
No, you can’t book connecting itineraries that include both JetBlue-operated and United-operated flights. If your journey requires both airlines, you must book separate itineraries—one for the JetBlue segment and another for the United segment.
No. Changes to date, flight times or routings are not permitted. However, you may cancel an award booking before departure of the first outbound flight, so we recommend booking separate one-way award bookings to maximize your flexibility.
Yes, cancellations are permitted prior to the departure of the first outbound flight. Points will be deposited back to your TrueBlue account, and taxes will be refunded as a JetBlue travel credit. If your ticket is partially flown, you will need to contact us to cancel your remaining itinerary. To maximize flexibility, consider separate one way award bookings.
To earn TrueBlue points (and tiles) on United-operated flights, just book on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app and be sure to log in to your TrueBlue account when booking.
TrueBlue members earn 5 points per $1; Mosaic 1 & 2 members earn 8 points per $1; Mosaic 3 members earn 9 points per $1; and Mosaic 4 members earn 10 points per $1 . Points are calculated on the flight fare paid, excluding all government‑imposed taxes, fees, and surcharges as well as ancillary purchases.
Flights booked on United before October 23, 2025 are not eligible for accrual or retroactive TrueBlue points accrual. For flights booked on or after October 23, 2025, go to the Request Missing Points page and fill in the required information.
No. TrueBlue points cannot be transferred to United MileagePlus. However, you can redeem your TrueBlue points to book award flights operated by United. Your TrueBlue and MileagePlus balances remain separate.
No. While Cash + Points lets you stretch your cash or TrueBlue points to pay for JetBlue-operated flights and JetBlue Vacations packages, award travel bookings with other airlines are not eligible for partial points payments.
TrueBlue and MileagePlus will remain separate loyalty programs. However, you must add either your TrueBlue or MileagePlus number to your reservation to collect points or miles. You must also add your loyalty number to receive any eligible reciprocal premium benefits.
No, you will only be able to add one frequent flyer number to claim your benefits.
Yes, tiles toward TrueBlue perks and Mosaic status will be earned on the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges of tickets purchased for United-operated flights. Simply book on jetblue.com or the JetBlue app and be sure to log in to your TrueBlue account when booking.
No, reciprocal benefits are limited to those listed above.
Yes. You are able to access Mosaic benefits while travelling on United-operated flights booked via jetblue.com or the JetBlue app.
Yes, you can book United-operated flights with cash (or TrueBlue points) when you book on jetblue.com and on the JetBlue app.
No matter where you book, you’ll always know which airline is operating your flight. This partnership is not a codeshare and flights booked on JetBlue will continue to say “Operated by JetBlue”, and flights booked on United will say “Operated by United”.
Yes, subject to availability, you will be able to select First, Business or Economy on United with your TrueBlue points.
Inventory is limited for redemption booking and is not guaranteed and can be modified by the operating carrier's discretion.
Yes. JetBlue Vacations packages can include travel on United-operated flights and can be booked through JetBlueVacations.com.
Eligible Mosaic and MileagePlus Premier members receive select benefits when flying on the partner airline. Benefits vary by status tier and operating airline.
Mostly. Blue Basic fares will not be eligible for any seat selection and same day standby.
All customers on your itinerary will receive:
- Priority check-in
- Priority security
- Priority boarding
- Same-day standby
Mosaic member +1 eligible travel companion on your itinerary will receive:
- Preferred seat at booking
Only Mosaic members will receive:
- Free checked bag & priority bag handling
No, only Mosaic Signature Perks are available.
No. Only the benefits of the Mosaic member with the highest status level on the reservation will apply. For example, only one companion may be included in preferred seating on United-operated flights, and free checked bag benefits do not increase based on the number of Mosaic members traveling on the same reservation. Travelers would need to book separate reservations for benefits to apply independently.
No, Mosaic benefits are only for United-operated flights.
You’ll need to reprint your boarding pass at the airport, or you won’t be able to receive the benefits.
Yes, you earn 1 tile per eligible $100 spent on flights through jetblue.com or the JetBlue app.
No, any checked bags and extras like paid seats must be booked and paid for at united.com.
You can’t mix and match loyalty numbers on a single booking. If you book a United flight with MileagePlus points, your MileagePlus number has to stay on the reservation—so TrueBlue numbers (and Mosaic reciprocal benefits) won’t apply.
