Hi I'm David Neeleman,
Founder and Chairman of JetBlue Airways. Each week I fly on JetBlue flights and talk to customers so I can find out how we can improve our airline. This is my flight log...

JetBlue Goes Midwest… …and adds the sixth New York State destination!
(REPORTING FROM CHICAGO) Yesterday we announced we will begin serving Newburgh, NY to Florida starting in December, and today, we are in Chicago to make the long-anticipated, much-rumored announcement. I’m especially happy to be in Chicago today, because after years of effort, we finally have a Chicago schedule that I think our customers are going to love. Not only are we bringing low fares to O’Hare, but JetBlue is now the only airline with 36 channels of free, live DIRECTV and more than 100 channels of XM Satellite Radio – so you can watch the news on your flight to New York, and the kids can settle in on their way to LA and watch cartoons. Believe me, the flight goes so much smoother when the kids have something to watch.
Starting Jan. 4, we are going to fly up to five times a day between Chicago’s O’Hare International and New York’s JFK International. No one should be surprised that we’re linking the Second City with our hometown airport. But we’re also going to fly up to twice daily between O’Hare and LA’s Long Beach Airport. The only people who aren’t surprised by this decision are the hundreds of customers who have asked for low-fare service between LA and Chicago – and believe me, hundreds of customers have told me personally exactly what they want!
Check out our route map, and there’s a city you want JetBlue to serve, let us know by clicking here.

Boston Turns 21 ...nonstop destinations, that is!
This past Tuesday, we started nonstop service between Boston and both Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC and Columbus, OH, bringing to 21 the number of nonstop destinations we offer from Boston. In fact, Boston is JetBlue’s second largest base of operations, and we made a lot of JetBlue pilots and flight attendants happy recently when we opened a crew base there in June of this year. Today, about 65 captains and first officers call Boston their home base, and we’ll keep adding more crewmembers there over time.
You may know this already, but in case you don’t, JetBlue’s crewmembers are our “secret ingredient.” It’s easy to say that free TVs and unlimited snacks and assigned, all-leather seats keep our customers coming back, but we know it’s the service each crewmember delivers that makes the difference when you’re choosing an airline. This week, our crewmembers were honored with “Best Domestic Airline” by the readers of Conde Nast Traveler for the fifth year in a row. I love the intelligence and focus on service exhibited by JetBlue’s crewmembers, and I am so happy that their dedication and professionalism continues to be acknowledged by our customers. More importantly, I can tell you that our crewmembers know we have to earn your loyalty one flight at a time, every time. We hope to see you soon on a JetBlue flight!

Football Madness (You'll never miss a game on JetBlue)
You’d think that I would be a huge fan of television, being the founder of an airline that was the first to offer customers free TVs and the most live entertainment options in the skies. But I’m not a huge fan, really. I never have time to watch TV! Even when I’m flying somewhere, I like to spend my time on JetBlue talking to our customers. When I’m home, I like to talk to my family. The TV is hardly ever on.
But that changes a little in October, because it’s football season! I know some die-hard fans that actually schedule their air travel around important games. I’m not that crazy about football, for the record, but it still gives me a thrill to know that even if I’m at 30,000 feet, I won’t miss any of the games next week:
| Sunday, Oct. 15 |
Houston at Dallas |
(1:00 p.m. ET, WCBS) |
| N.Y. Giants at Atlanta |
(1:00 p.m. ET, WNYW) |
| Sunday, Oct. 15 |
Miami at N.Y. Jets |
(4:15 p.m. ET, WCBS) |
| Sunday, Oct. 15 |
Oakland at Denver |
(8:00 p.m. ET, WNBC) |
| Monday, Oct. 16 |
Chicago at Arizona |
(8:30 p.m. ET, ESPN) |
If you don’t know the difference between a half-back and a quarterback, don’t worry. We have 36 channels of live DIRECTV at every seat, so you have your pick of entertainment.
Thanks for flying JetBlue and good luck to your favorite team!

JetBlue’s Insane Expansion. You Asked For It.
In the last six weeks, JetBlue has started flying to six new cities: Nashville, TN; Houston, TX; Aruba; Sarasota/Bradenton, FL; Tucson, AZ; and starting just this past Tuesday, Columbus, OH. Six new cities in six weeks – a new record for JetBlue! We now serve 47 destinations.
The #1 answer to “what can we do better?” when I’m on a JetBlue flight is “Fly to more places!” Well, you’re right – we need to fly to more places and make sure more cities benefit from low fares and great service. On average, when we start service to a new city, we introduce fares that up to 50% lower than what customers were used to paying. I like doing that – I think people pay too much for air travel. Everyone should be able to take a trip when they want to – to see family, to do business, or just to get away for a while.
We’re working hard to make sure our fares stay low. We have one of the lowest cost structures in the airline industry, and we’re doing a lot of things to make sure our costs remain low. Low costs = low fares. Do you know any other company that aims to mark down their product? Well – that’s our mission. Some of our costs are things we can’t control – like the price of jet fuel – but most of our costs are controllable. You can keep depending on us to have the lowest fares and the best service.
We just need to know where else we should fly! Tell us where to fly to next. Our 2006 expansion is almost done (but we may have one or two more new cities to announce… we just can’t help ourselves), but there’s always 2007 and beyond.
